A Splash in SoCal

West of the Rocky Mountains there is really only one hot spot to find football talent: southern California. When the Utes go to play Los Angeles to play UCLA or USC, their marketing team makes it a point to have a presence beyond just the arena. 

In 2018 the idea arose to send a billboard truck on a drive about through Los Angeles hot spots, like the Walk of Fame, Santa Monica Pier and Sunset Blvd. 

 

 
 

I was contracted by Utah Athletics to stylize and produce the media that would be displayed as the truck drove, as well as the supporting hype social media content for the game.

The theme: Everyone Bleeds Red.

Ultimately…

The truck spurred some buzz, alongside an airplane pulling a banner “Go Utes” circling the Los Angeles skyline.

In 2019 Utah had its best recruiting season in SoCal to date, pulling the highest ranked recruiting class in school history.
